In school, while working in a team it was always a pain to get everyone on board to report bugs found in software. In the first few semesters bugs would be fixed on the fly, either because the software really wasn’t that complicated or because we didn’t know how to properly deal with bugs. I found this article called Painless Bug Tracking by Joel Spolsky. I found it a great read and a great way to get up to speed with proper bug tracking. Things you would think should be included into a report, sometimes fall by the wayside making correcting errors in software more difficult than needed. Programmers thrive on efficiency, so why not give it a read and improve your bug tracking. Painless bug tracking is a mark of a good software team.
